The Ceiling (2019)
Project: Sited/Sighted
4.2 X 4.0 metres Calico installed in the jewellery courtyard of Callan Park, Sydney College of the Arts Grounds, Rozelle.

My work references the Jewellery Courtyard on the grounds of SCA Callan Park as a physical and meditative space. The shapes of tiles are reflected in holes in the calico through which the blue sky is visible. These shapes are shone back onto the tiled floor and the walls as the sun’s light is filtered through the calico. When the wind picks up, the light dances up and down the walls, and the billowing fabric becomes slack and then taught again in a natural rhythmic manner. Through the repetition of positive and negative shapes, my work plays with space, depth and colour, reading like a painting and enclosing the space as a ceiling.
