The Pour (2019)
Performance work. 2.3 X 3.1 X 3.0 metres. Calico canvas fabric, acrylic paint, ladder.

This work makes visible the surface of a painting, reframing the material, physical canvas as the subject. Removing the traditional structure of the frame, the fabric loses its structure and is weighed down by the poring of the paint. The canvas creases and changes shape as the paint falls, dribbles and dries. Taking painting medium into the realm of performative sculpture, this work demonstrates the strong bond between process and result as it celebrates the act of mark making.
